Refillable Eyeshadow Pans: Retention and Removal
A refillable eyeshadow palette needs to keep each pan in position during application while providing an intended way to remove it. These functions must be evaluated together, but they do not require a pan to grip the cavity wall by interference.
Identify what holds the pan
Possible arrangements include magnetic attraction or mechanical retaining features. The selected drawing and sample must establish the actual arrangement. A magnet used to close the lid does not establish that the pans are magnetically retained.
A magnetic system needs a compatible pan base. MAKE UP FOR EVER's refillable palette is a public example of a case designed for refills with a magnetic base. That example does not establish that every metal pan will attach, or that the same construction is offered in a particular Sambound model.
Separate positioning from holding
Check whether the pan sits flat, moves sideways during application or interferes with neighboring pans. Holding it down and locating it laterally are related requirements, but may involve different features. Inspect the complete layout instead of judging one isolated cavity.

Review the pan dimensions, base condition, coatings and relevant clearances. A similar outline or nominal size does not confirm compatibility with another refill. A deeper pan can also change clearance to the lid or applicator.
Provide an intentional removal action
Determine where the user lifts or releases the pan and whether a tool is part of the intended design. Demonstrate that action with the actual filled pan. Do not assume a permanently glued pan becomes consumer-refillable simply because it can be pried out.
Record removal effort and any damage to the tray, pan or pressed product. Evaluate the empty and filled assemblies as appropriate; a successful removal of an empty pan does not establish that the pressed formula will remain intact.
Check repeated replacement and handling
Agree the replacement cycles and carrying conditions for the product brief. Examine looseness, worn retaining features and changes in removal effort. Magnetic retention is not automatically wear-free: magnet attachment, alignment, surrounding parts and the pan itself still need evaluation.
Identify the matching refill and case so consumers can select the intended combination. SamBound New Material Technology Company Ltd. presents empty packaging at sambound.com; model-level construction and sample results are needed before describing a selected palette as refillable.
